Tim: Thanks much for this posting about MicHELL R. I hadn't seen the Tweet and few others out here had. The timing of your post let me reference her "blessing" in a comment to the SFUSD Board of Ed and superintendent. You can take a quick listen if you want here:

The sup, btw, announced his retirement the morning after that board meeting. Odd, the length of his tenure - 5 years - matches the minimal criteria for life time health benefits. I think his door know comment might be something like, "I'd say that the last one out should turn off the lights, but I already blew up the generator, so what's the point?"

I really do enjoy reading your posts. As a librarian, I share a little of your luxurious remove from the classroom and have the time that colleagues do not have to read, reflect and get enraged. I'm angry enough now that I may resurrect the old edu blog that I started back in 1999 and kept going for venting purposes until about 2005 [ http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/03/technology/techspecial3/03ethan.html?_r=1 } Venting probably does no good, but it's a healthy way to steer toward an honorable retirement.
