STC Policies

Content
I was once focused on the transformational potential of technology in education, but I write about whatever is on my mind, and lately that's policy. I borrow images and usually try to site the source. I try to bounce of others' ideas and link back to those individuals. I edit posts after they're posted; usually I will make a note of it but not always.

Blogroll
I try to link to a variety of ed writers, whether or not I agree with their posts; it's a highly incomplete list, and it's a fluid thing. I do keep some hard-core right-wingers and charter-charter-charter cheerleaders on the list because I like to hear what they're saying.  There are a lot of great people in the conversations I like to be in; there's just no way for me to know about all of them. One thing is for sure: if you're on my blogroll, I read your blog when I see there's a new post. If you think there's a writer out there that I should know about, by all means, let me know. There are also people out there whose RSS feed is just a mystery to me; I can't figure out how to pull it in so I leave them off the rolls. I see there are a number of ed bloggers who don't do the whole blogroll thing--I link to these people as well, although I'm not entirely sure that's a good idea. Time will tell.

Update: I link to School Matters, and I admire the work posted at this important blog. I do, however, reject one of their author's immature obsession with Governor Chris Chrisitie's weight. I tried to make this comment over at School Matters; the comment was evidently censored. Make of that what you will, but I think it's strange not to post a critical comment.

Comments
I will only moderate for obscenity and concern-trolling. If there's going to be obscenity on this blog, it's going to come from me. Otherwise I pretty much let things be. I do try to comment on someone else's blog once a day-- trying to increase the listening and lower the noise level around here. Then I forget where I've commented and don't go back to check if there's been a follow-up. It's definitely a flaw in the system.

Twitter
I block realtors, public relations people,  life coaches,  mystery people, and trolls. For noise reduction, I filter out all messages that use any of the regularly scheduled education chat hashtags.

Facebook and HuffPo

Ixnay on the acebook-Fay. I'm off of it, and I've always been ahead of my time. As for HuffPo, I've cut way back on that given the business model she's got over there. Usually, if someone has written something good on HuffPo, I'll try to link to the other place where it was published before it got aggregated for Arianna's profit.
